President Trump Vows to Ban TikTok in US, citing national security concerns

US President Donald Trump vows to ban TikTok through executive action in the coming days. TikTok is owned by ByteDance, a Chinese company headquartered in Beijing, China.

When asked about the ban, President Trump and many senior administration officials cute national security risks and concerns, including data breeches and surveillance. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says Trump will take action "in the coming days" against TikTok and many other Chinese-owned apps. Economic Advisor Peter Navarro says China uses [TikTok] to track, surveil, and monitor your movements.

No action has been taken as of yet, but it is being closely watched by many social media gurus, and many members of the Gen-Z generation.
