As we are approaching Christmas, it is now time to re-watch those holiday classics. If you are looking for some laughs, I have a great movie for you to watch. This movie is the popular production Home Alone. Home Alone is a film for those who are ready to laugh, but also look for moral value in the characters of a movie that stands out from the typical Christmas movie genre.

This holiday classic came out in 1990 and remains popular among much of today’s population. Most holiday movies tend to fit the same model. Home Alone, however, is a different kind of Christmas story that touches on deeper subjects regarding the importance of family and the deeper bonds which exist inside the crucial unit. Kevin’s family is busy preparing for a trip to Paris, France for Christmas and in the hustle to make their flight, Kevin inadvertently gets left home alone. This is where the fun really begins! In addition, the movie covers some key morals of life, the film creates an engaging story perfect for the whole family, big or small, this Christmas season.

Home Alone allows for the spread of Christmas joy while enlightening those who watch with the true meaning of the holiday. The main character, Kevin, despite being only eight years old, helps his next-door neighbor by listening to him about his strained family relations. It does not matter what you receive, it matters what you give to others which is what both Kevin and his neighbor discovered. This message is crucial especially in the times we face today, making this movie still relevant even though it is 30 years old. Many around us need our help. It is the support we give to others in this difficult time that truly matters. You can always give even when you have nothing physical in your possession to give. Your support alone is enough to those who need it most. We all need help.

As emphasized in the Bible, we need to treat others how we wish to be treated in return. It is often those in our lives with the least, as Kevin is viewed by his family as a pest in the beginning, he changes throughout the movie and the family see him in a different light with a new appreciation for him. Looking at someone alone cannot tell their whole story, Kevin looked past the outward appearance of his neighbor and they both end up helping each other. People may be deemed an outcast for many reasons. It is not until we enter their lives that we can find their true and inner being which is exactly what is portrayed in the movie as the relationship grows between Kevin and his neighbor. It is through this movie that we learn the importance of moving past that sense of unconformity. We need to communicate with those found least in our lives. Everyone has a story, that story needs to be shared, and Home Alone does a great job of portraying this all while still being a lot of fun to watch.
